IT'S POSSIBLE

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint Isaiah 40:31

The story is told of an eagle that had a dream that others thought was impossible. An eagle’s nest that rested on a large mountainside contained four eagle’s eggs. An earthquake caused one of the eggs to roll down the mountain and rested in a chicken farm. An old hen volunteered to nurture the egg and one day the egg hatched and a beautiful eagle was born. Sadly, however, the eagle was raised to be a chicken and believed he was nothing more than a chicken and wandered around the barnyard with the other chickens pecking for food.

Although the eagle loved his home and family his spirit cried out for more… While playing the eagle looked up and noticed a group of mighty birds soaring in the skies. "Oh, I wish I could soar like those birds” said the eagle. The chickens cackled with laughter, "You cannot soar with those birds. You are a Chicken and we can barely get off the ground." IT’S IMPOSSIBLE!!!

In our text Israelites were reminded those who wait (depend) upon God will do great and marvellous things because God is the everlasting God who does not get weary and cannot faint. God gives power and strength to those who faint and are powerless. In fact even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who depend on God will always be able to go on with energy and strength. God assured them that they will be able to do seemingly impossible things because God will strengthen and enable them to do far more than they can even imagine.

Have you ever been faced with mounting demands where you are prompted to declare “It’s Impossible?”  Or have you ever been convinced about accomplishing something and you are confidently told “It’s Impossible!” Jesus told his disciples to wait to be empowered for the task he gave them.

This waiting is not just sitting around and playing candy crush or lying on the sofa in front of the TV flipping through the channels but part of waiting means being in tune with God, sharpening our skills for ministry, sharing our knowledge as we look to God to direct, exchanging ideas; having a willingness to change.

One day the eagle decided to do something new. He breathed deeply, stretched his giant wings and slowly lifted off the ground. He ascended into the sky and soared higher and higher and further and further. He saw more in an instant than its companions had in an entire lifetime. If it seems impossible it is possibly possible because with God all things are possible.

Thought:                   Your waiting on God should not be regarded as a weight

Prayer Focus:           Pray for the willingness to trust God’s timing.
